The minor in Management Information Systems (MIS) is designed for students in any field of study who are interested in leveraging technology to solve complex business challenges.   While this minor does not focus on computer programming, it allows students to strategically apply emerging technology trends to enhance the way organizations innovate their products and services and embrace the way people work.   Students who compliment their academic program with a minor in MIS are aligned to successfully interact as a liaison between core business functional areas and technical organizational units.  The MIS Minor is a great option for non-business students who wish to add a business perspective to their program of study to bridge the gap between technical knowledge and core business functions.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Identify current and emerging technologies and incorporate them into a business setting.
  • Discuss the role and importance of Management Information Systems within a business and how they can assist an organization in reaching its strategic goals and success.
  • Analyze an organization’s management information systems and design solutions that align with the organization’s goals.

Assessment: BSIN 4000 - Business Driven Mis:  Final written paper.
