The General Criminal Justice minor program is designed to provide non-criminal justice majors with a foundational understanding of the criminal justice system and its functions.
There are two core courses, CRJ 1000, Introduction to Criminal Justice, and CRJ 3750, Substantive Criminal Law, and students will have the opportunity to take specialized courses in areas such as General Criminal Justice, Criminology, Forensic Investigation/ Cyber Forensics, Homeland International Security and Law and Justice, allowing students to choose courses that align with their interests.
This minor program prepares students for various criminal justice careers by providing foundational understanding and specialized skills in their chosen area.

Student Learning Outcomes
- Explore the essential functions and processes of the criminal justice system.
- Develop an understanding of the principles of criminal law and its application in the justice system.
- Gain critical thinking and problem-solving skills related to criminal justice and apply these skills in real-world situations.
- Prepare for a range of careers in criminal justice or related fields, such as law enforcement, probation and parole, forensic investigation, cyber forensics, and homeland security, by acquiring knowledge and skills relevant to the area.
Free Electives
- The remaining 15 credits (five courses) are any CRJ course of the student’s choosing as long as at least three of the remaining five courses are at the 3000-4000 level.
